However, even during the operation of the water supply shcme, people of Keirao Bitra used to receive water only once or twice a week that too for a short period.
The water supply scheme was constructed under the project of Augmentation of Water Supply for Imphal City.
Under the first phase of the Scheme, it kept the target of providing 6.81 million litre (MLD) of water on daily basis.
However, after burning down of the transformer, electric motor and other important equipments of the water supply by irate mob over abduction and killing of Soram Ibocha and his son by KCP (MTF), Kesho group in connection with monetary demand, the water supply has remained defunct.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, a villager of Keirao Bitra said that with construction of the water supply scheme, the people expected to get potable water easily and in abundance.
But after the incident of killing of the father-son duo, all hopes have been shattered.
