Moreh, August 20 2013:
Even if the State Government has reiterated its commitment to protect the boundaries of the State, the Myanmarese Army is reportedly planning to construct houses within the territory of Haolenphai Village at Moreh town in Chandel district.
Talking to media persons today, the Chief of Haolenphai Village Lalkholun Haokip said that some people sent by Myanmarese Army came to construct houses at the village.
However, he told the Myanmarese people in strong terms that the land belongs to Manipur and not to Myanmar.
They went back after the strong reaction.
He further said that those Myanmarese people are greedy land grabbers who would come to the village again with the Myanmarese Army to construct houses.
Haolenphai Village lies in between Border Pillar No.77 and 75.The Myanmarese people often infiltrate into Manipur's territory after the loss of Border Pillar No.76.The villagers still know the approximate location of the lost border pillar.
Moreover, there is also one border pillar of Myanmar numbered as 23 near the location of lost Border Pillar No.76, the Chief added.
The personnel of 9-Assam Rifles have put up a green flag and another red flag near Myanmar's Border Pillar No.23 to mark out the territory of Manipur.
But, those flags were removed by Myanmarese Army at 7.30 am of August 16, Lalkholun stated.
The Chief further maintained that the removal of boundary flags was informed to the Post Commander of 9-Assam Rifles at Moreh Gate No..1The Myanmarese Army has even claimed the road leading to T Minou Village as theirs, but the road has been a part of Manipur with BRTF personnel working there.
He also stated that Haolenphai is the only village which has remained in the aftermath of Kuki-Naga clash.
The village was developed since the year 1992 and it has now 50 houses with a population of 260 people.
The villagers are also paying hill house taxes and they enjoy benefits of MGNREGS and other schemes implemented by the State Government, the Chief noted.
Lalkholun lamented that the Myanmarese Army frequently infiltrate into the territory of Haolenphai, but the Indian security forces have never resisted to such acts.
The personnel of 9-Assam Rifles and SDPO of Moreh have even seen the Myanmarese Army entering into the territory of Manipur at Haolenphai Village.
The acts of Myanmarese Army could be harmful to women and children in the village during night time, he averred.
