Heavy rains damage bridges & roads, agricultural lands inundated at Tunggam Village

Senapati, August 14 2018:
The incessant rains which occurred last week in Senapati district has led to multiple landslides and inundated all the paddy fields situated along the bank of Barak river, said a source.
According to the source, all the seven bridges in Tunggam Village - one metal bridge and 6 suspension bridges - were destroyed by the flood.
The only two roads that lead to Barak valley has been totally cut off due to multiple landslides.
As reported, the bridges could not be repaired till now as the water level recedes at a very slow rate.
It is also reported that due the soaring water level many people are facing a lot of difficulties to look after their cattle across the river as there is no other means to cross the river.
The flood has wreck havoc on the cultivators who rely on these paddy fields for their livelihood.
The grief-stricken cultivators are rendered helpless by the calamity.
The devastated villagers earnestly appealed to the concerned authority to intervene and provide suitable relief measures to the affected people so as to mitigate the effects of the calamity in the long run.
