CCpur, August 14 2018:
A group of women protester today staged a demonstration, burnt the effigy of Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur district and prevented him from attending office demanding his removal from the district.
The protest was staged as part of Thadou-Kuki Students' Union call for removal of the DC since August 10 .
The student body has insisted that the Kukis resent the DCs decision to go ahead with the August 8 cleanliness drive (which was planned ahead of Independence Day), despite the general strike called by Kuki Inpi Manipur demanding justice for the killing of over 900 innocent Kukis.
The protest took a serious turn since yesterday as posters gathered at the gates of the DCs office, reports our correspondent.
Declaring that they will not cease the agitation until their demand is met, the student body in a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister today, reiterated that the TKSU-GHQ is offended and appalled by the actions of the DC and termed it as outright unacceptable.
They have in addition, levelled several others charges before the Chief Minister including, failure and incapable of running the administration, irregular attendance of office, slow and delay in implementation of Government schemes, absence of public communication and feudal mindset with utter disregard for public sentiment among others to take home their arguments for the DCs removal.
