Abducted father-son duo still traceless

Imphal, December 13, 2011:
With the whereabouts of Chowkidar of Irilbung water supply scheme and his son, who have been reportedly abducted by armed cadres of KCP (MTF) Kesho group in connection with monetary demand to PHED still not known, a protest meeting was held at Irilbung today.
The meeting resolved to clamp indefinite public curfew in all the government offices located within Irilbung block with effect from 10 am tomorrow.
The public meeting further decided to enforce road block along Imphal-Yairipok route with effect from 10 am to 3 pm tomorrow in condemnation of the alleged indifferent attitude of the state government over the issue.
Chowkidar Soram Ibomcha and his son Soram Yaipu have been abducted by some armed people who identified themselves as members of KCP (MTF) Kesho group from their quarters attached to Irilbung water supply scheme in the night of December 7. After holding the father-son duo in captivity, the abductors contacted the family members to explain that the abduction over the failure of PHED to pay its annual tax to the armed outfit.
The worried family members have brought up the matter to the notice of the Minister, Commissioner and Chief Engineer concerned of the department.
But apart from the assurance given that efforts are being made to secure their safe release, the whereabouts of the abducted father and his son still remain unknown.
During the meeting today, many of the speakers pointed out that Chowkidar Ibomcha is a poor family man who does not even have a house of his own, thus he has been staying at the quarters of the water supply scheme provided to him along with the rest of his family members.
They also appealed to the abductors to release Ibomcha and his son on humanitarian ground.
