UMPC to constitute union for Meitei Pangal drivers

United Meitei Pangal Committee (UMPC) Manipur is gearing up to convene a public meeting concerning the formation of a Meitei Pangal drivers' union at its office near Lilong Turel Ahanbi Dam on September 5 at 1 pm.
Addressing the media at a press conference at UMPC office today, Moulana Habibullah, finance secretary, UMPC pointed out that Meitei Pangal drivers who work in service of the public have been victimized in several instances.
Stating that the public is well-aware of the risks the Meitei Pangal drivers are taking to perform their duties in the midst of the ongoing conflict, the finance secretary rued that the Meitei Pangal drivers are subjected to harsh treatment quite often.
In view of the fears prevalent among the Meitei Pangal drivers and with the goal to protect their interests while serving the public, UMPC made the decision to constitute a Meitei Pangal drivers union after conducting a public meeting on September 5, he maintained.
Thus, he urged all Meitei Pangal drivers of the State to be present at the upcoming meeting.
Further, he made an appeal to all State CSOs and organisations to refrain from obstructing the meeting.
