Dimapur, May 09 2010:
Three Naga Hoho officials have been assaulted and robbed at Kohima today at about 3 pm.
The Naga Hoho has strongly condemned the heinous assault and looting of Chuba Ozukum, general secretary, Naga Hoho, G.Vashum, joint secretary of Naga Hoho and Nepuni Piku, member of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) by two pistol wielding unidentified miscreants, who barged into their room in a hotel where they were staying at around 3 pm today in Kohima.
The gangsters barged into the room and ordered them to hand over their wallets, ATM cards, laptops and a printer.
When the civil society leaders resisted they started assaulting them with pistol butts.
Thereafter they robbed their wallets, mobile phones, laptops, cash and important documents in the suit cases and escaped.
Meanwhile, the Naga Hoho said, "At this turning point in the collective lives of the Naga people, when the efforts for peace and understanding are showing welcome signs of progress, it is greatly distressing that social misfits and criminals have wreaked unprovoked violence upon these leaders who have been in the forefront of the movement for peace in our land".
The Naga Hoho therefore appeals to all right thinking members of the society to condemn this dastardly act, and urge the authorities to apprehend the culprits at the earliest and award them befitting punishment, said a statement.
