JAC rolls back bandh announcement

Imphal, January 31 2015 : The JAC formed in connection with the Kadangband incident has sus-pended its proposed Statewide bandh scheduled to begin from this midnight following an assurance given by the Govt to institute a magisterial enquiry with regard to the incident.

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has reportedly assured the JAC to institute a magisterial enquiry into the Kadangband incident wherein two persons � Khupneilal Neihsiel and Robert Hesei, were killed by AR personnel on Jan 28 .

The Dy CM assured the JAC formed in connection with the incident during a meeting this evening.

The JAC also held a meeting with Kuki civil society organisations till late in the evening after the meeting with the Dy CM.

JAC convener Thangminlen Haokip said the would launch intense form of agitation if the magisterial enquiry report is not submitted within 15 days from now.

Apart from two persons being killed, three others sustained injury in the incident.

Speaking to media person Convenor of the JAC Thangminlen Haokip said that Deputy CM assured the JAC of their magisterial enquiry demand over the killing of Khupneilal Neihsial and Robert Hesei allegedly by 8 Assam Rifles on January 28 at Khadangband bridge.

However, the magisterial enquiry order has been issued for a period of two months which is not accepted by the JAC said Thangminlen before adding that we give the Government 15 days for the magisterial enquiry.

If the magisterial enquiry is not completed within 15 days the JAC will imposed various form of agitation warned Thangminlen.

Meanwhile, Thangminlen also said that the dead bodies of Khupneilal Neihsial and Robert Hesei will be claim since the demands of the JAC has been assured positively on the part of the Government and subsequently the proposed 24 hrs statewide general strike has been called off with immediate effect.

Mentioned may be made that the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal killing of Khupneilal Neihsial and Robert Hesei had earlier warned of imposing 24 hour statewide general strike if the government fail to constitute a Magisterial enquiry over the brutal killing of Khupneilal Neihsial a civilian and Robert Hesei cadres of KNF within January 31 while the two dead bodies has been remained unclaimed at RIMS Morgue till today.
