Imphal, November 23 2017:
While saluting all the people on the occasion of the 53rd raising day of UNLF (November 24), the party's Central Committee (CC) has laid down its views and thoughts on different issues besieging Manipur, their root causes and their possible solutions.
In this 21st century where all Nations have been competing fiercely for development and progress, Manipur is regressing rather than joining the race of development.
During the past 68 years since Manipur was forcibly merged into the Indian Union, all the indigenous communities have been gripped by a common fear of possible extinction.
Even though it is a fact that Manipur's backwardness is largely a result of being an alleged occupied territory of Manipur, the Government of India has been using one alibi repeatedly; 'No development project can be taken up due to insurgency movement' .
They (New Delhi) have been consistently churning out volumes of propaganda saying that Manipur has little resources and her people are unskilful and lazy.
The alleged puppet local rulers have been reciting the same propaganda, according to a lengthy statement issued by the CC.
The National contradiction between India and Manipur which is rooted in the alleged forced merger of Manipur into the Indian Union in 1949 is the root cause of the uncertain future and existential threats faced by indigenous communities today.
Ironically, Manipur was forcibly merged into the Indian Union at a time when the decolonisation process was at its height during which many colonised Nations of Asia, Africa and Latin America became independent.
India itself became independent only in 1947 .
After the forced merger, the State Assembly, duly elected through adult franchise as well as the State Constitution, were disbanded.
Since then, people of Manipur have been fighting against the alien occupation.
The liberation movement is an inevitable duty for self defence and protection of the indigenous people from the adversary forces, the CC asserted.
The violent and restive situation prevailing in Manipur is a creation of the adversary forces.
The UNLF and other groups fighting for liberation of Manipur are only Resistance Forces who are fighting to protect their own Nation, and fighting for liberation of an occupied Nation is guaranteed by international law.
The propaganda ofNew Delhi and their alleged local puppet rulers that Manipur has little resources and it cannot survive on its own has no rationale.
On the contrary, Manipur has vast natural resources and it only needs sustainable exploitation to make Manipur an economically advanced State, claimed the CC.
On the other hand, there are reports about mining of underground minerals without informing the people and even the State Government.
At the moment, the Government of India has already started due process of petroleum exploration and extraction in the State.
This is an open attempt to rob the people of Manipur its natural resources and all the people need to unite and prevent exploitation of the State's natural resources, it said.
It has been generally accepted that human resource is the most valuable of all resources and people of Manipur are quite resourceful by birth and this is testified by Magnificent Mary Kom.
Apart from sports, many people of Manipur have earned their names at the international level in different fields such as information and communication technology, space science, art and culture etc.
As many as eight Manipuri players were there in the Indian football team for FIFA U-17 World Cup which was hosted by India recently.
Again, there are nine players from Manipur in the Indian football team for AFC U-19 championship.
Presence of Manipuri players in great numbers in Indian teams became possible only after foreign coaches who are unbiased were hired.
But before foreign coaches were appointed, Manipuri players were always suppressed and victimised, the CC asserted.
