Imphal, July 14 2013:
Irregular power supply at the State-run Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) has caused lots of inconveniences to the patients, especially at the Casualty Department.
Hundreds of people are admitted to the Casualty Department for medical emergency everyday.
The patients as well as their attendants usually experience awkward situation when there is no power supply in the Hospital during night time.
A patient's attendant told Hueiyen Lanpao that the hospital authorities should install a generator to backup power supply during load-shedding at least for the patients in Casualty Department.
Sometimes, doctors administered injection to patients in candle light.
The patients are really worried at the condition of this Hospital, he noted.
Moreover, there are no bulbs in the kitchen of this reputed hospital.
Patients' attendants have to use candle or emergency lamps while cooking food in the kitchen at night.
Most unfortunately, some men and women even indulged in immoral acts inside the kitchen taking the advantage of darkness.
The security guards had apprehended such people several times from the kitchen, another attendant disclosed.
Besides irregular power supply, the faulty drainage system near the Casualty Department is also a matter of concern.
The entrance of the Casualty Department is often inundated with water from the drains.
Recently, a lady patient slipped near the entrance gate just after she got down from the vehicle, the attendant recalled.
The patients and attendants have appealed to the authorities concerned to augment power supply to the hospital so that no inconvenience is caused especially at the Emergency Ward and Casualty Department during night time.
