Yurembam villagers protest

People of Yurembam in Imphal West district have affirmed not to give even an inch of land in the construction of railway line/train station.
A protest rally was staged by around 200 people of the locality under the joint aegis of Yurembam Apunba Club and Yurembam Apunba Meira Paibee Lup.
Placards that read as 'We object acquisition of land', 'We object construction of train station at Yurembam' and 'Consider our demand' were held by the rallyists.
After staging the rally, the gathering hold a public meeting at Yurembam community hall.
Among others UCM president Y Nabachandra and All Manipur Progressive Farmers Association president Joy Nongmaithem also attended the meeting.
Y Nabachandra while speaking at the meeting said that the people of Yurembam had been affected earlier with the acquisition of land for the construction of Power Plant.
Now, the Government is planning to acquire more land in the same village for construction of train station which has brought tension in the area.
As such, acquisition of land at the locality must be protested by one and all, he said.
