Imphal, July 02 2020:
The Coordinating Body of Trade Unions (CBTU), Manipur is taking part in the Nationwide protest called by Central trade unions including Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) tomorrow against alleged anti-worker and anti-people policies of the Government.
The Nationwide protest is being launched urging the Central Government to act on the long overdue 12-point charter of demands, the labour and trade union rights, issues of job losses, wages, job security and the migrant workers' issues, said a statement of the CBTU today.
The Nationwide protest will also denounce privatization of public sector undertakings (PSUs) and urged Centre to take proactive actions and effectively face the COVID-19 pandemic by issuing adequate PPE kits and other equipment necessary to the healthcare workers.
The trade union is also appealing the Government to provide proper COVID-19 insurance to the healthcare workers, patients and those who died of the disease.
If the Government does not pay heed to the demands, the trade unions may launch noncooperation movement, it said.
