Kohima, July 28 2009: Marking a new chapter in Naga politics, the Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF) has decided to change its nomenclature to Naga Peoples Front (NPF) in order to spread its wing to other parts of the country, wherever Nagas are inhab ited.

The resolution was adopted in today's NPF Central Executive Com mittee (CEC) meeting held at Kohima.

Addressing the CEC meet, Nagaland Chief Minister and NPF leader, Neiphiu Rio said the party is planning to spread its wings to all areas "where our people live and have inhabited their lands since time immemorial".

He said that such a step is not meant to merely make electoral gains but rather it has the more noble aims of unifying the Naga people and brin-ging together Naga bro- thers and sisters who have always longed to live together as a family.

Maintaining that Nagas living in Naga contiguous areas have been urging the NPF to reach out to them, he said that it has become the responsibility of the NPF party to respond to the "call of our people, as we are the only regional party with a historic past, tirelessly working for bringing lasting peace with the aim of fulfilling "the Naga peoples desire".

"Though we are yet to achieve physical integration, we as a people should be emotionally and politically integrated," Rio said while also revealing that the NPF leaders have already travelled to different parts of the region in laying down the ground works ahead for the party's expansion plans.

Further, looking forward to the support and coope ration of the Nagaland Con gress on the Naga political issue, he said that all sections have to realise that the Naga political issue is above party affiliations and they have to bury their differences in the interest of the Naga people.

Earlier, NPF president, Dr Shrhozelie Liezietsu in his speech disclosed that the CEC meeting would be taking up the 6th Amendment of NPF Constitution.

Shrhozelie Liezietsu said that though the NPF have been taking up different activities to meet the requirements of prevailing situation, yet the stand towards solution of the Naga political problem remains constant.
