Chief urges healthcare facilities

Urging to provide healthcare facilities at the villages of Khengjoy block under Chandel district, Chief of Changpol Village Jamhao Mate has stated that treatment facilities once received through Myanmar road had stopped from last year.
From 2009-12 Myanmar authority had given permit to total 40 villages to go along its road to receive healthcare facilities.
A doctor of Primary Health Centre, Moreh stressed that doctors and staffs of the PHC had been conducting mobile tre-atments and immunizations at the villages with the support of ASHA.
However, for the current year, Myanmar authorities rejected two applications seeking permission to enter the 38 km Moreh to Bokan road.
He continued that the Deputy Com-missioner Tamu and Deputy Director Immigration have again rejected today the permission to enter through the said road.
Myanmar patients had been given treatment in Manipur and also Shija Hospitals has been visiting Myanmar twice a month for providing treatment.
The medical department should approach the Myanmar authority for the permission to enter the mentioned road, Mate asserted.
He also said, Myanmar authority has not acted positively despite repeated appeals to enter the 38 km road so that the people of the far off villages (in Chandel district) can access heatlhcare facilities the CMO Chandel would deliver under NHRM of Govt of India.
