Imphal, August 13 2020:
The Kangleipak Women's Welfare Association (KWWA) has demanded the enquiry committee, constituted by the State Government to investigate into the circumstances that led to the deaths of many emergency patients after they were reportedly denied treatment by hospitals, to come up with its finding at the earliest and make it known to public.
KWWA also demanded to award punishment to whoever found guilty directly or indirectly.
KWWA, in a release, said the present Government instead of coming up with a proper planning, only keeps on imposing lockdowns, leaving the people in a confused state of affair.
Meanwhile, the lawmakers are busy fighting to gain position and power, it said.
The death of a young pregnant woman along with her unborn child at the entrance of Shija Hospital is the saddest incident reported during this time of pandemic.
What is even more shocking is the report of denial even by the State's two established Government run hospitals, besides the private hospitals, it said.
Another 20-year-old woman from Thoubal also died due to denial of treatment by hospitals.
Further, a five-month-old died due to lack of proper medical care at Churachandpur District Hospital.
Many more cases have been reported even after the Government issued a directive to the hospitals to attend to emergency cases at all cost, KWWA alleged.
The Government should be held solely responsible for these unfortunate incidents happening in the State, KWWA charged.
