State Level Youth Festival commence

The 16th State Level Youth Festival organized by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, GoM commenced today at the Kangshang of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal.
The festival which will go on till December 10 will see the participation of about 500 boys and girls from all districts including Jiribam and Kangpokpi Sub-Division of the state.
The festival will include competitions in Folk Dance, Folk Song, Classical Dance, Classical Song, Classical Musical Instruments and One Act Play.
The inaugural function of the festival was graced by RK Nimai, Commissioner, Art and Culture and H Deleep, Special Secretary and Director, Youth Affairs and Sports as the Chief Guest and President respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, RK Nimai said that the Youth Festival began to be celebrated since 1995 to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
The objective of the festival is to promote peace, harmony and development and to provide ample opportunity for interaction of youths of the state.
It is also celebrated with the aim to create a platform to expose the hidden talents of the youths of the state, he added.
