Thoubal, November 27 2024: Womenfolk of Kakching staged a sit-in protest at Kakching Keithel Naohallai Laibung demanding unconditional release of four persons who were arrested in connection with the November 16 incident wherein a mob vandalized the Kakching MLA's.residence and properties.

The protestors, which included families of the four, denounced their arrest for partaking in the public outpour of anger which erupted as a result of the heinous Jiribam killings.

They decried the arrest claiming that only the four were deliberately targeted and slapped with charges.

Demanding their unconditional release, the protestors accused the concerned authority of failing to arrest the killers of the three innocent women and three children and instead arresting citizens enraged by the inhumane killings and failure of State machinery.

The protestors have resolved to launch more intense agitations if the four, including one student, are not released promptly.
