Book release ceremonies held

Manipuri edition of Navin Chawla's "Mother Teresa" translated by Dr Thokchom Ibohanbi was released today in a function held today at DIPR hall in Keishampat Netyaipat Chuthek.
The book release function organised by Ashangba Communication Imphal was attended by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad chairman Longjam Joychandra Singh, renowned critic Nongmaithem Tombi, Sahitya Akademi Awardee Arambam Biren, L Birendrakumar Sharma, Dr Leishangthem Tondon and Nongmaithem Kirankumar as presidium members.
At the event, Dr Thokchom Ibohanbi said that Mother Teresa is one of the most famous and revered figures in the world, whose selfless charity work saved millions of lives.
"Born on August 26, 1910 at Skopje, Macedonia, Mother Teresa dedicated her life to humanitarian work, particularly in Kolkata, where she founded the Missionaries of Charity.
Her compassion, kindness, and commitment to serving the most vulnerable earned her widespread admiration and recognition, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979", he added.
Moreover, a book titled, "Mangdaba" written by Guruaribam Ghanapriya Devi was also released today in a function held at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul.
The book release function was attended by Manipur Cultural Organisation, president, K Radhakumar; Manipur University, School of Humanities, former Dean, Prof Nahakpam Aruna and Progressive Publication Society, president, Soubamcha Aruna as presidium members.
Similarly, a book titled "Leishemlon" authored by Prof Thiyam Yekendra was released on Sunday in a function held at DIPR hall in Keishampat Netyaipat Chuthek.
The book release function organised by the Cultural Forum Manipur was attended by Prof Koijam Shantibala Devi, president.
Cultural Forum Manipur; Prof Rajen Toijamba, convenor, Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi and Prof Huirem Bihari Singh as presidium members.
At the event, Prof N Rajmuhon Singh, former Vice Chancellor, DM University, gave a brief review and introduction of the book.
