Foundation for Maraoni Orphans & Destitute Upliftment celebrates foundation day

Marking its 10 years of existence, the Foundation for Maraoni Orphans & Destitute Upliftment celebrated "Decadal Foundation Day" on Saturday.
The Foundation for Maraoni Orphans & Destitute Upliftment is situated at Viewland Colony, Makhrelui.
The foundation day celebration was attended by Col Sandeep Sharma, Commandant, 16 Assam Rifles, Maram as the chief guest and Rev Dr Joseph Kennedy, Pastor of Poumai Baptist Church, Senapati as the administrator respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, AS Graceson Marao, president of the foundation, shared his "bitter experience" as a child and his endeavour to help orphans.
Graceson said he lost his mother right after he was bom and his father during the infamous "Operation Bluebird" carried out by the Indian Army following the Oinam incident way back in 1987.Graceson said he was brought up by a neighbour, Koduru Sosii of Khongdei Khuman, who was also acknowledged during the programme.
The president of the foundation stated that he had a vision to work for the orphans and the destitutes from a very young age.
Graceson extended gratitude to all concerned who had extended their assistance in some way or the other, and said, it is through their help and assistance that the foundation could be run.
Speaking as the chief guest of the event, Col Sandeep Sharma congratulated Graceson Marao for his selfless dedication in the past 10 years.
Col Sandeep Sharma in his speech stated that anyone who has been working selflessly in the service for children of God and the community are laudable.
The CO of the 16 AR wished Graceson and the foundation the very best to continue the work to enlighten more lives.
Delivering a message to the "lovely kids" of the foundation, the Commanding Officer stated that God loves all the people.
He advised the children not to think that they are not equal to other children and stated that they should persevere to achieve their goals in life.
The CO encouraged the children to be proud of who they are, and advised them to get a good education and keep healthy hobbies.
He advised them not to think they are handicapped or disadvantaged, and encouraged them to "aim for the sky so as to catch the stars one day".
Rev Dr Joseph Kennedy in his message urged the foundation to teach the young children human values and apart from giving them formal education.
The Pastors present, the deacon board of the PBCS and other ordained Ministers performed a special prayer for the orphans.
