Students of Kwakta Government High School, who boycotted classes since yesterday regarding the transfer of teachers amidst the severe lack of teachers in the school, staged a sit-in protest today further demanding the authority concerned to send the required teachers to the school .
The students as well as the school committee have repeatedly urged the authority concerned to provide the required teachers but teachers were transferred or utilised from the school instead, reports our correspondent .
One of the students who took part in the protest stated that students have been launching a series of agitation regarding the lack of teachers at the only Government school which has been established since long time back in Kwakta .
However, the students were enraged when the Government, after providing two teachers on July 14, utilised the teachers at other institutions, the students stated and added that on August 5, five teachers were transferred to the school who were utilised again by the State Government on August 17 .
The school has a total strength of 382 students and only eight teachers are available .
The present teachers are not able to attend all the classes and it has led to numerous hardship and inconveniences for the students .
The students will continue to boycott the classes if the concerned authority fails to send the required teachers before September 5 and the students will give up their books to the ZEO of Bishnupur on September 6 .
The students further warned to block the Tiddim road for 48 hours from 6 am of August 7 .
A member of school management committee urged the State Government to fulfil the needs and demands of the students and the school and added that members of the committee as well as guardians and parents would also take part in the agitation.
