With the advent of Christmas, warm greetings for the festival have poured in from various organizations, political parties and individuals.
Governor Gurbachan Jagat has greeted the people of the state on the festive occasion.
In his message, Gurbachan Jagat hoped that the spirit of Christmas would usher in an era of peaceful coexistence among the various communities in the state.
He reminded that Christ had preached a message of love, peace, forgiveness, mercy, compassion, benevolence and sacrifice to build a new world based on peace, justice and equality of mankind.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi also extended his warm wishes and greetings to the Christrian brethren on the occasion of Christmas.
In a message, Ibobi said that the Christ had showed a way of life based on the values of truth and charity.
His teachings which have spread the world wide over, serves as a beacon to steer humanity from darkness into light based on the appeal and emphasis of love, compassion and righteousness.
Lok Sabha MP, Dr T Meinya has also greeted the people of the state on the auspicious occasion and Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly, I Hemochandra too extended his warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Christmas and New Year 2011.He appealed to the people of the state to eschew hostilities and ill will and to usher in a peaceful and prosperous state in the new year.
Manipur People's Party (MPP) extended its warm greetings to the Christian community on Christmas.
A press release of the party appealed to people of different communities in the state to lead a life of peaceful coexistence.
Consumers Welfare Forum, Manipur has also greeted the people of the state on the occasion.
The body has warned shopkeepers not to sell goods at exorbitant prices above the stated MRP of the product.
The United People's Front (UPF) has also extended its warmest Christmas wishes.
Manipur Baptist Convention Centre Church, Imphal and Manipur Students' Guardian Organisaton gave also extended their warm greetings on the occasion of Christmas.
On the other hand, Offg GOC, 57 Mountain Division, Brig RS Grewal and all other ranks have greeted the people of Manipur on Christmas.
