ADC Sadar Hills launches weaving training program at Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, June 23 2017:
Taking forward the Prime Minister's 'Skill-India' initiative in Kangpokpi district, Commerce and Industries Department of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council Kangpokpi began a six month training course on handloom and weaving at Kangpokpi DHQs today.
Vice-Chairman of ADC Sadar Hills Thangjakam Misao inaugurated the training program with a motive to help weavers of Kangpokpi by imparting training course on handloom and weaving at old district council hall, Kangpokpi.
20 women weavers will be trained by two instructors during the training.
The inaugural function was attended by ADC Sadar Hills Vice-Chairman Thangjakam Misao as chief guest while MDC Paotinlun Chongloi who is also in-charge of Commerce and Industries Department, SHADC Kangpokpi and Chief Executive Officer of SHADC, Kangpokpi DK Thangboi Haokip as guests of honour and functional MCS, president respectively.
Speaking at the function, Thangjakam Misao said that with limited financial assistance from the Commerce and Industries Department, District Council Kangpokpi Cabinet under the guidance of Chairman Haokholal Hangshing decided to launch a Handloom Weaving Centre at Kangpokpi so that poor women across the district would be exposed to many courses and training of weaving.
He underlined the necessity of the training and importance of holding certificate in order to avail facilities provided by the State Government.
Paotinlun Chongloi motivated the trainees to participate sincerely with enthusiasm and complete the offered course.
The first batch ( 20 weavers) would be trained and they will be given a daily stipend while the training imparted to the weavers would help them develop new designs, add value to their products and enhance their earnings.
CEO-SHADC, Kpi DK Thangboi appealed the women weavers to produce the finest handloom products in the State.
