Imphal, July 14 2020:
The headmen of New Canaan, Ngarumphung and Muirei villages on behalf of all the farmers has conveyed sincere gratitude to the Director, Agriculture Department, Manipur, for providing fertilizers to the poor cultivators/farmers of these villages under control rate, said a statement signed by Issacher Mashangva, headman New Canaan Village.
The villages solely depend on the products of their paddy fields by cultivation of rice and pulses for their livelihood and for the education of their children.
However, they could not afford to purchase the required fertilizers for their farms due to financial constraints.
Accordingly, the villagers approached the Director, Agriculture Department for kind provisions of fertilizers to the needy families for better yield of rice and pulses.
The Director gladly provided the required fertilizers from which the villagers were greatly benefitted and happy for his kind consideration.
The inhabitants of these villages belong to the weaker segments of the society and cultivation and farming is the main source of their livelihood.
Without the support of the Department, products and yield would be much lesser and lower without proper fertilizers.
The positive response and action of the Director is highly acknowledged and appreciated by all the inhabitants of the three villages and hope that the Department would continue to extend assistance in the future days to come.
The villagers further expressed gratitude to the District Agriculture Officer, Ukhrul district and staffs concerned for their cooperation and help.
