Awareness prog, interaction held

ADC Sadar Hills held an interaction and awareness meeting with chiefs, khullakpas, chairmen, headmen and secretaries of different villages of Kangpokpi block, T Waichong block and Champhai block under Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi at its multi-purpose hall today, our correspondent reports.
Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman, ADC Sadar Hills; Thangjakam Misao, Vice Chairman, ADC Sadar Hills, Executive Members, members of SAHILCA, KTC and more than 400 village chiefs, khullakpas, chairmen, headmen and secretaries attended the meeting.
The ADC Sadar Hills, initiated the event to bridge communication gaps among various village chiefs and the District Council Administration, Haokholal Hangshing said.
The meeting also aims to foster peace and harmony among different communities within Sadar Hills and to build cordial relationships between chiefs of different communities and the district council administration, and work collectively for the development of Sadar Hills.
Haokholal Hangshing also emphasized the need to preserve and promote the culture and identity of various communities dwelling together in Sadar Hills.
While illustrating the mixed composition of District Council Sadar Hills, the ADC Sadar Hills Chairman pointed out that there are also elected members from Naga and Nepali communities who hold the post of Executive Member under the administration of ADC Sadar Hills.
"So far there is no discrimination in respect of communities in the administration of Sadar Hills District Council", asserted the ADC Chairman.
Bhumi Prasad, Executive Member of ADC Sadar Hills lamented that some section in the Nepali community and other communities as well have been targeting to harm the unity of the Sadar Hills people.
Such adulterated mindset, however, will not dismantle the unity of Sadar Hills, he added.
He appealed to all the communities to maintain cordial relationship with the district council administration and egg on unity, peace and harmony.
SAHILCA president, Tongpu Kipgen lauded the administration of Sadar Hills ADC for their humble initiative and urged the same to hold such awareness and interaction programmes regularly to ensure that no communication gap exist between the village chiefs and the district council administration.
Similar awareness and interaction meeting with village chiefs, khullakpas, chairmen, headmen and secretaries within Saitu-Gamphazol jurisdiction will be organized on March 17 at Gamnom-Sapormeina, this correspondent reports.
