Imphal, March 11 2016 :
CPI Manipur State Council general secretary Dr M Nara has said that politics has taken the wrong path due to some people who take politics as a business.
Addressing a press conference at Irawat Bhawan, Dr Nara said that CPI would launch a campaign known as 'Make election free and fair' after Yaoshang festival in connection with Imphal Municipal Corporation election.
Saying that the campaign intends to stand against distribution of cash and intoxicants during election and gun culture, he said that the party would put in efforts to carry out the campaign door-to-door.
Dr Nara said that CPI would field greater number of candidates this time.
Dr Nara said that he took part in CPI National executive meeting held in Hyderabad on March 7 and 8 .
He said that various issues besieging the State and country were deliberated at length at the meeting.
Contrary to Narendra Modi's promise, the NDA Government is unable to maintain stability in the price of essential commodities.
He claimed that the present Government is a complete failure in terms of the country's economy.
In their effort to divert the core issues, BJP has started adopting a new strategy to saffronise the institutes of higher education and universities across the country, Dr Nara said.
The controversy arising out of the arrest of JNU Students' Union president Kanhaiya Kumar has put the whole country in a complete dilemma, he said.
