Imphal, June 15 2024:
A delegation of Akhil Bharatiya V idyarthi Parishad (ABVP) led by national secretary Dr Virendra Solanki and Shivangi Kharwal submitted a memorandum to Union Education Minister Dr Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi on Saturday.
According to a release issued by ABVP Manipur, the memorandum demanded a CBI investigation into the process and results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG 2024) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), citing irregularities and incidents such as solvers and paper distribution at various centers across the country.
ABVP also reaffirmed its support for the legitimate demands of the student community and called for a swift resolution to this issue.
"There is skepticism among students regarding the integrity and transparency of the NEET-UG examination process and results, which are crucial for admission to India's top medical institutions.
Several irregularities were noted during the examination, suggesting that the NTA failed to adequately review and prepare the centers for the exam", it added.
During the discussion with the ABVP delegation, Dr Dharmendra Pradhan assured that no student would face injustice and that legal and punitive action would be taken against those found guilty in the matter.
Dr Virendra Solanki said, "There is a situation of doubt among students regarding the conduct and results of the NEET-UG examination.
ABVP stands with the students in their demand for a CBI investigation and swift action against the culprits.
"The irregularities by a major testing agency like NTA demonstrate its incompetence, and ABVP demands that its functioning be made fool proof to prevent any future discrepancies", he added.
Dr Abhinandan Bokaria, national coordinator of ABVP's Medivision said, "The examination agency should have conducted a review before the exam to prevent such irregularities.
NEET is a crucial exam for students aspiring to enter the medical field, who put in immense effort.
Such irregularities in a significant exam are a betrayal of students' legitimate expectations.
ABVP demands the harshest action against those responsible in this matter" .
