Bail for ten in illegal sand mining case

Imphal, March 05 2020:
At least 10 persons including the manager of Shivalaya Construction Company Private Limited, arrested on a complaint filed against illegal mining of sand and stone from Sekmai river, were released by JMFC Imphal West II on their execution of Rs 50 thousand PR bond with surety of same amount.
The arrested persons were produced before the JMFC Court Imphal West II by a team of Sekmai police yesterday and today.
The complaint was filed by the Director of Trade and Commerce and Industries.
On receipt of the complaint, the internal task force on prevention of illegal mining of Directorate of Trade and Commerce and Industries conducted spot inspection of the area on March 3.The team was assisted by Imphal West District Police and personnel of Sekmai Police Station and ten persons were pulled up.
Two Tata trippers, two JCB excavators and one JCB were also impounded.
Other arrested persons are identified as Hijam Mohen of Sekmai Koujengleima, Khonjembam Naobi of Koujengleima, Sanasam Kiran of Sekmai Laipat, Phanjoubam Shantikumar of Sanapat Andro, Charoibam Premjit of Tabungkhok Awang Leikai, Oinam Thoi of Maharabi Awang Leikai, Moikhongbam Prakash of Keirao Wangkhem Mayai Leikai, Leishangthem Shantikumar of Thoubal Leishangthem and Angom Khelemba of Phayeng Awang Leikai.
Court after perusing the case report submitted allowed all the arrested persons to be released on bail on their execution of Rs 50 thousand PR bond and surety of same amount yesterday.
Only one arrested person Satendra Kumar of Nawada Bhojpur Manager of Shivalaya Construction was able to furnish the necessary PR and surety bond yesterday and the Court had remanded the remaining nine others in custody for 2 days till today.
