IW cops to launch special drive

Imphal, March 15 2016:
To check instances of road mishaps during
the ensuing Holi festival, Imphal West district police will organise
a special drive from March 23 to March 27 to strictly implement
certain safety norms and pull-up any erring riders in connection
with the ensuing Holi festival.
According to a statement issued by SP of Imphal West, the
police personnel will give emphasis on driving motor vehicles
without driving license, driving by minor (underaged), owners
of vehicles allowing minor or person without DL drive his/
her vehicle, driving without registration certificate, insurance,
displaying registration number, driving by drunken person or
by a person under the influence of liquor/drug and driving at
excessive speed.
Overloading of car, gypsy, Maruti van, bus, driving at a
speed which is dangerous to the public, driving or riding of
two wheeler without wearing helmets, driving motor vehicle
using mobile phone and vehicles with tinted glass will also be
checked.
It urged the general public to cooperate and help the police
in curbing road mishaps and save precious lives besides en-
suring peaceful celebration of Holi festival.
The special drive has not been made with the intention of
disturbing the festive mood of the Holi revellers but to check
the alarming instance of road mishaps which can be avoided
with cooperation from all concerned, it added.
