Imphal, March 15 2016:
Re-tender for Loktak Downstream Project which would be taken up as a joint venture of the State Government and NHPC is likely to be held in May this year.
E-tender for the power project which would generate 66 MW has already been held.
Three firms applied for the e-tender but the lowest bidder could not be selected thereby necessitating re-tender.
Generally, it takes around six months to complete due procedures for holding a re-tender.
The e-tender held earlier also took around six months.
Had the first tender ended successfully, execution of the project might have started by now.
If the re-tender likely to be held in May goes off successfully, execution of the project may start by November after completing all other processes by August, informed a source.
Even though the installed capacity of the project is 66 MW, actual power generation may not reach the installed capacity, particularly during dry season.
Same is the case with Loktak Hydro Electric Project.
Although the project's installed capacity is 105 MW, actual generation never reaches the installed capacity, added the source.
