SC dismisses MLA's plea

Imphal, November 27 2024: The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition filed by Kumbi AC MLA Sansam Premchandra seeking rejection of an election petition filed against him by Ahanthem Shanjoy, a Janata Dal (United) candidate in the 2022 State elections.

The elections petition against Sanasam Premchandra was filed with the High Court of Manipur alleging he had furnished wrong information relating to his educational qualification and assets in his nomination papers for the 2022 elections.

The High Court of Manipur on August 30 had dismissed a petition Sanasam Premchandra filed seeking rejection of the election petition against him.

Hearing Sanasam Premchandra's petition, the Supreme Court on November 25, dismissed it and observed that the High Court's ruling of August 30 has merit and it couldn't interfere with the case.
