Ukhrul villages yearn for peace in border area

Ukhrul, October 24 2013:
Against the backdrop of violent activities perpetrated by valley based militants in border areas of Ukhrul district, fifteen villages of border area under Kamjong subdivision, Ukhrul have called for restoring of peace in their area.
The villagers said that violent activities like killings and bomb attacks in the recent past have created fear psychosis among the villagers in the area contagious to neighbouring Myanmar.
The area is hardly accessible due to its remote location.
The tragic murder of two Konkan villagers, frequent bomb explosions and encounter with the security force turned out to be a nightmare experiences for people of the area, they said.
They said that the bomb attack on Assam Rifle at the village gate of Kangpat Khullen by the valley based militants on Oct 20 was unfortunate.
Condemning the act, the Raizan Long said planting the bomb at public places is heinous which is aimed to cause human casualty.
This kind of incident has put the people to greater risk created fear psychosis among the people.
They further appealed to all organisations operating in the area to restrain from all kinds activities which may disturb public tranquillity and create stress.
