NSCN-IM rebuffs ambush charge

Imphal, October 26 2016: The NSCN-IM has rejected the allegation made by Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam they (NSCN-IM) ambushed the Chief Minister's helicopter on October 24 at Ukhrul.

According to a press release issued by the outfit's MIP, Ibobi was planning to inaugurate the incomplete development projects in Ukhrul with a view to boost his dwindling Government images as the election was round the corner.

Security was beefed up specially at three venues namely district hospital, Hungpung, Chingai block and LM block.

Ibobi has done so much damage to the Naga people and the tribal people in general in Manipur.

Ibobi has been strongly opposing solution of the political dialogue being held between NSCN-IM and the Government of India.

He is against peace and allegedly advocating war in Naga areas.

Ibobi was also the same Chief Minister who totally opposed NSCN-IM general secretary Th Muivah's home visit to Ukhrul which resulted in the killing of two Naga students at Mao gate in 2010 .

As such, the Tangkhul Naga Long declared boycott on Ibobi's visit to Ukhrul for his anti-Naga and anti-tribal mentality, attitude and policies.

Heeding to the call of TNL, the entire denizen of Ukhrul district extended non-cooperation to Ibobi.

The entire area of the hospital to be inaugurated has been cordoned off thoroughly and sanitized ahead of the Chief Minister's visit with tiers of security forces such as Manipur Rifles, IRB, Manipur commandos, CRPF, Manipur Police and Assam Rifles where even a rat could not penetrate.

There was no chance for external forces to trigger bomb explosions unless it was done from inside, it asserted.

It further alleged that Ibobi instructed to fire some shots so that he may cover up himself from his humiliation and conveniently blame that his helicopter was ambushed.

It went on to ask whether NSCN-IM can waylay in stationary position or NSCN-IM cadres were inside the security hall.

Ibobi should learn to take responsibility for his failure and not blame NSCN-IM for all his failures.

NSCN-IM is completely clean in this issue and it has nothing to do with Ibobi's stage managed ambush, it added.
