Irate locals of Irengband caution to block road if not repaired by June 30

Kakching, June 15 2024:
The locals of Irengband have cautioned the Government that the stretch of road from Kakching to Tekcham via Irengband will be blocked from July 1 if the Government and authorities concerned fail to repair the road within June 30.The locals discussed the deplorable condition of the road during the Laikon Kaba programme, a gathering event organised by People Protection Force (PPF) Irengband twice a month.
Acknowledging the importance of this stretch of road on the lives of the people of this region, the locals resolved to block the road if the Government fails to repair it at the earliest.
The irate locals staged a protest demonstration and raised many slogans demanding the repairing of the road.
A protestor named Nunglepam William of Irengband Turel Mayai Leikai said that the stretch of road from Kakching to Tekcham via Irengband is an important route for commuters of Irengband and farmers of Kakching.
A high school and a higher secondary school are also located along this road highlighting the significance of the road upon the students as well.
Stressing that the road has been neglected for a long time, he said that the road continues to be in a deplorable condition with frequent flooding and is filled with potholes posing immense inconveniences to the locals.
Considering the problems of the locals, he urged the Chief Minister, Works Minister and local MLA to take up immediate measures to repair the road by June 30 failing which the locals will be compelled to block the road from July 1 .
It is worth noting that the schools located along this road JRD Pathseeker and MM Genius Academy took up the initiative of repairing the potholes for the convenience of the school students and teachers earlier.
