Imphal, November 01 2009: At least eight persons including two whose families complaint of missing since miscreants abducted them were gunned down by troops of Assam Rifles at separate places.

Seven of the suspects have been gunned down by the troops of 28 Assam Rifles in what said to be in encounter occurred at about 11pm at Andro Sanapat under Yairpipok police station of Imphal east district while one was gunned down by troops of 29 Assam Rifles at New Laiten under Tengnoupal police station last night at about 8 pm.

A statement of the IGAR (S) troops of 28 Assam Rifles who launched cordon and search operation in the area Andro Sanapat under Irilbung police station killed the seven in a firefight ensued between the AR columns and around 10 to 15 UG cadre.

The rest managed to escape.

Two AK 47 Rifle (Foldedbutt), two AK 47 Magazine, one 7.62 mm USA made Rifle with magazine, three Pistol 9 mm with magazine, one .

32 inch Pistol with magazine, one RPG round with booster charge, three Lethod bombs, one Chinese Grenade, one Indian Grenade, 27 rounds of AK 47, four M-16 rounds, 43 rounds of G3, 13 rounds of 9 mm, six rounds of .32 rounds, one Kenwood Radio set, 400gm of PEK , one Kg of TNT powder, 9 meters detonating cord, one Primer, 5mtr Safety fuze, 70 mtr x electric wire, 149 x AK 47 Fired cartridge cases ,104 x G3 Fired cartridge cases,82 x M 16 Fired cartridge cases and16 x 9mm Fired cartridge cases have been recovered from the slain undergrounds, the statement claimed.

The statement further claimed handing over of dead bodies of slain undergrounds along with recovered items to Yairipok Police station at 5 am today.

But a source from the police said that as AR authority submitted only a list of seized weapons the police station concern, police refused accept the list.

Out of the seven killed, two have been identified as those who have been missing since they were abducted by miscreants on October 22 last.

Regarding the abduction and missing of two youths, villagers of Ishikha of Imphal east district had also staged a sit-in protest on October 30 demanding save release of them.

The two were Oinam Anand alias Girani (21) son of Yaima of Ishikha Mayai Leikai and Oinam Maipak Maipaksana alias Pakpa (23) son of Bhimo of same village with the former.

Families have been claiming that they were abducted by some unknown persons in civil dress on the night of October 22 last.

Even though they wore plain cloths at the time of abduction by the miscreants, they were found wearing new combat dress.

As families refused to accept the bodies alleging that they were killed in "fake encounter, the dead bodies are lying together with the other bodies slain together with them at RIMS morgue.

Interestingly, before the killing incident took place, a reporter of the Hueiyen Lanpao was informed by an unknown caller through office telephone and as SMS in his mobile number informing that a team of Assam Rifles led by major Abichand has handed over seven persons rounded up from Imphal area to the troops of 28 AR.

They will be killed.

Later at about midnight, report of killing seven persons by the AR received by the reporter.

Whether, the seven persons were those seven who have been informed of handing over to the 28 AR could not be confirmed.

In another incident, troops of 29 Assam Rifles also gunned down an a person said to be underground activist at New Laiten under Tengnoupal police station last night at about 8 pm, the IGAR (S) further stated.

It further claimed recovery of one M-20 Pistol with magazine, four live rounds of Pistol, one IED, two fired cartridge case of pistol and four grenade from the slain underground.

The dead body along with the recovered items has been handed over to Imphal West Police Station.
