Speaking at the

Singh said that the main
objective of celebrating
World Book Day is to
promote books and reading
for the personal enrichment
as people who read more
books knows more and
urged everyone to inculcate
the habit of reading books.
He also stated that
library is the bridge of the
past, present and future
generation.
The habit of reading
and going to library
should be developed from
an early age and internet
cannot take the place of
books and if it has been
so, "we would be celebrat-
ing World Internet Day in
place of World Book Day
today," he added.
He further stated that it
has been more than 27-28
years since the Manipur
Library Bill was passed
(1988) for development of
public library in Manipur,
but it has not been
translated into action till
date and has drawn the
attention of the Chief
Minister to look into the
matter at the earliest.
