Imphal, August 20 2016 :
Graduate teachers recruited under RMSA today took out a protest rally against non-payment of salaries for seven consecutive months.
The teachers first held a meeting at THAU Ground, Thangmeiband before taking out a rally through Khoyathong.
A team of the teachers' representatives later submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister.
One teacher said that altogether 746 teachers recruited under RMSA between 2011 and 2014 have not been paid their monthly salaries since February this year.
On account of non-payment of salaries for such a long period, the teachers and their families have been enduring many difficulties.
Many of the teachers posted in far flung places have been staying in rented rooms at their own expense in the absence of Government quarters.
Now they are unable to pay even the rents.
If the monthly salaries are not paid at the earliest, the teachers would be compelled to launch cease work strike, he said.
He added that they would take the matter to the Union Human Resources Development Ministry in case the State Government fails to come up with a positive response.
