77th Hiroshima day observed

The IndoJapan Friendship Association Manipur and the Mayor for Peace, Hiroshima (Imphal Chapter) jointly observed 77th Hiroshima day today at Manipur Press Club.
Hiroshima day is observed to commemorate the dropping of first atom bomb in the city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.Speaking at the occasion, MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand said the Second World War had brought mass destruction, millions of soldiers and civilians were killed and brought suffering to millions more.
It is human nature to come to the aid of one another in times of need and the love shown by the people of Manipur for Japan and vice versa is evident from observation of this day, he added.
The rate of development in Japan even after getting hit twice by atomb bombs is something that the people of the State can look up to, he added.
A peace exhibition was held at the programme today followed by a reading out of peace declaration sent by Mayor of Hiroshima, Matsui Kazumi.
The programme was also attended by IMC chairperson L Lokeshwor and president of Indo Japan Friendship Association Manipur Ph Nandakumar as presidium members.
Manipur Daigaku Nihongo Doososei Kyokai (MDNDK) Manipur branch also observed the 77th Hiroshima Day by observing a two minute silence today at Manipur Press Club.
The programme was attended by MHRC former member Lt Colonel (retd) Rajkumar Rajendra Singh; MDNDK Manipur President N Noren and Manipur Electronic Development Corporation Limited's former general manager N Hareshwar as presidium members.
Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council also observed Hiroshima Day at Iraawat Bhawan.
The programme was graced by former Minister Dr M Nara, writer Comrade Langol Iboyaima and State secretary of CPI, L Thoiren as the presidium members among others.
