The Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) today charged of irregularities in the entrance test for selection of students for studying in MA first semester courses in various subjects in the Manipur University.
Addressing to reporters at a press conference held today at its office, president of MSF, Laishram Ibomcha charged of briber and other malpractices in the conduct of entrance test in various departments of the MU.
He pointed out that even though as per the rule students securing marks below 45% in BA are not eligible for the study of MA in MU, the authority selected on Kh Noren who secured only 44.44% in place of a student, Laishram Malemnganba, who secured 48% in the exam result conducted by the state Adult Education Department.
Not only this, the president added, even though 2% relaxation given to the students with NCC Certificate and participated in NSS camp was not considered.
It has led to the lowering of rank of three students are at third, fourth and 10th rank in the merit list declared by the department concerns of the MU.
A seat for the student sports and extra curriculum has been given to one with OBC certificate in the recently held entrance test, he went to point out.
Ibomcha further alleged that three seats out of six reserved for the Scheduled Caste included in the unreserved category after they secured high marks were also filled up in a wrong manner.
Against the rule, the three seats is to be selected according to merit of the students in the waiting list from the general category but it was not done according to the rule but given to the students securing lower marks.
Two seats are reserved for the candidate who participated in the inter-college or University or national level sports events after 10+2 level exams in the English Department.
But against the rule, one seat has been allotted to one Maibam Gitanjali who produced participation certificate when he was studying in Standard-XII, he pointed out.
Urging the MU authority to rectify the irregularities in the selection of students for study in MA first semester, the president warned that if fails to do so, the students' body will launch various forms of protest against the misdeed of the MU authorities.
