Aid continues to pour in to relief centres

Imphal/Kakching, May 14 2023: The Kabui Union Manipur as a humanitarian act, donated essential items to relief camps opened at Tera Khongshangbi and Khudekpi today.

The Kabui Union Manipur, Joint Secretary K Athoi Kabui in a press release said that the essential commodities were extended by the Kabui villages of Keishamthong Kabui Khul, Sawombung Khunjao, Sangaiprou, Ragailong, Duigaipangjang, Keikhu, Oinam, Chingpu and Keiren.

The Kabui Union acknowledged the noble deeds of the Kabui villages amid this grim situation and expressed belief that the other Kabui villages will continue such humanitarian act.

The Union also appealed to the State Government to ramp up measures to restore peace and normalcy in the State and provide medical aid and essential items to the people staying in the relief camps across the State.

As a continuation of its social responsibility activities, Ibotombi Institute of Education (IIE) under the aegis of MIMA and led by its Principal, Dr RK Bijen Singh donated essential items to the families who have been taking shelter at different relief camps opened at Leitanpokpi and Chingkhu area of Imphal East district on May 13, 2023 .

The essential items include drinking water, milk powder, tea leaves, sugar, snacks, toothpaste, toothbrush, medicines, mats, sanitary napkins etc said a press note by IIE Administrative Officer.

The team also appealed to all sections of the society to stand together and work for a solution to restore peace and normalcy in the State.

Jamiat-tul-ullama Mayang Imphal in association with JYDC Mayang Imphal donated relief materials including rice, pulses, edible oil, medicines, clothes etc to relief camp opened at Heingang Makha Leikai Model Club today.

The donation drive was carried out under the aegis of the Committee on Peaceful Co-existence, Manipur (CPCM), Hatta Mana Ingkhol in Imphal East.

A press note by CPCM informed that a prayer ceremony was performed for the restoration of peace and harmony in the State which have been disrupted by the recent outbreak of unfortunate communal violence.

The Haobam Marak Social Union Club (HSUC) continued to extend essential items such as edible items, drinking water, clothes etc to relief centres across the State.

HSUC in a statement informed that the club has extended aid to relief centres of Sagolmang; Pukhao; Keibi Awang Leikai Community hall; Ningthoukhong; Thamnapokpi; Ibudhou Thangjing Moirang; Kumbi Terakha Upper Primary School; Santi Club Moirangkhemon Mamang Sabal; KAH/S and KIYDO, Kumbi and Ima Nganuleima Chingmei.

It may be noted that the club have been carrying out the relief materials distribution drive since May 8 last.

Continuing its noble initiatives of helping the relief centres opened to shelter numerous stranded and displaced people by the recent communal clash, youths of Khekman Apunba donated essential items to 14 relief camps of Bishnupur, Imphal East and Thoubal districts.

Speaking at the sidelines of distribution drive at Khoirom Junior High School, Yairipok, Motilal Thoungam, member of Khekman Apunba Youth said that the distribution drive is being carried out to help in alleviating the problems faced by the stranded and displaced people.

Further he called for cohesive efforts to put an end to the prevailing tense situation and bring in peace and tranquillity in the State.

KAKCHING

The Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) Limited, Regional Institute-V, Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh donated 50 mattresses to Kakching Higher Secondary School relief camp.

The mattresses were donated through ADAM Kakching by CMPDI.

ADAM secretary Surjit Kshetrimayum handed over the donated matresses to the representatives of the Committee for Peace and Social Harmony, Kakching today.

Many have been extending aid and essential items to relief camp opened at Kakching Higher Secondary School where 112 displaced and stranded people are staying at present.

Committee for peace and harmony, Mayai Loishang Kakching president Bheigyachandra while speaking to media persons during a press meet held yesterday at the camp, said that gradually people affected by the ongoing turmoil are coming to stay in the camp from different places across the State.

He further informed that individuals and organisations including Kakching DC Somorjit Salam; Kakching Keithel Apunba Ima Lup; Super Market Ima Lup; Sena Athlete's Organization (SAO) Kakching Wairi; Youth Union Club (YUC) Kakching Wairi; Indian Medical Association, South East Branch and Jivan Hospital among others have been rendering support to the relief camp till date.

He extended gratitude to all who have been showering with support and relief materials to the relief camp.

Bheigyachandra also expressed belief that many will continue the trend of humanitarian support to the affected people.

He also sought the support of Kakching AC MLA and Wabagai AC MLA for the efficient functioning of the camp.

Lastly he urged the Central and State Government to work out measures to resolve the communal conflict so as to restore peace and normalcy in the State at the earliest for the common good of all.
