85th Nupi Lan Day observed widely

Bishnupur/Thoubal/Jiribam, December 12 2024: Commemorating the valiant Manipuri women who fought against the then mighty British, Ima Leimarel Apunba Lup and Nupi Samaj Churachandpur celebrated 85th Nupi Lan Day with the IDPs of Kwakta Sericulture Institute.

The event held at the pre fabricated house of Kwakta Sericulture Training Institute was attended by MLA of Moirang AC, Thongam Shanti Singh as chief guest, president of Ima Leimarel Apunba Lup, Churachandpur, Angom Noyon Leima as functional president and vice-president of AMKIL, K Ibeyaima, president, Nupi Samaj, G Landhoni, vice-president, Nupi Samaj, Th Bijenti, president, Meitei Society Churachandpur, M Thoiba, convenor CMUC, Hemam Jogendro, vice president CMECVC, Ksh Ibungo and convenor, Kwakta Sericulture (Prefabricated House), Irom Abung as guests of honour.

As part of the celebration, N Romesh, secretary of Meitei Society Churachandpur flagged off a marathon competition for the IDPs of Kwakta Sericulture from Phougakchao Ikhai to Kwakta Sericulture farm.

Later the winners of the marathon were felicitated with cash awards.

All Manipur Nupi Marup, Thoubal observed 85th Nupi Lan Day at Kakching Communist Party Hall.

The event attended by CPI Central Committee member, comrade Dr M Nara, CPI Manipur State Council Control Committee member, comrade Y Dhananjoy, Nupi Marup Thoubal, president, Y Ibetombi Devi, Vice-president, S Sorojini Devi, member, Th Ruhini Devi and S Manjuri Devi as presidium members emphasized on the need of finding a solution to end the present conflict in the State.

Meanwhile, Khangabok Joint Co-ordinating Committee (KJCC), Khangabok celebrated 85th Nupi Lan Day at Khangabok Mayai Leikai honouring the bravery of the womenfolk who rose against the British Empire.

The celebration was attended by Khangabok Zilla Parishad 'member, N Ramananda, KJCC, president, Kh Debabarta, World Meitei Council President, Shyam Yumkhaibam, Chairperson of Khangabok GP Part-I, Th Sobha, chairperson of Part-II GP, M Gopi, chairperson of Part-Ill GP, M Mohin as presidium members.

Bishan stressed on the importance of observing Nupi Lan Memorial Day.

As part of the celebration a tug-in-war competition and a marathon was held for the women.

Athokpam Meira Paibi Apunba Lup also observed the 85th Nupi Lan Day at Athokpam Keithel today.

A floral tribute was also paid to departed women freedom fighters led by president of Athokpam Meira Paibi Apunba Lup, Kh Kripa and vice-president, A Bimola.

JIRIBAM
85th Nupi Lan Ningsing Numit Observation Committee, 2024 observed 85th Nupi Lan Day at the Auditorium hall of Jiri Ima Meira Paibi Lup, JIMPAL today.

The ceremony was graced by N Budhachandra Singh, Social worker Jiribam , Thomash Thokchom MPS, Adl SP(L/O), Colonel Prashant Singh Commandant of the 38th Assam Rifle, Longjam Bimola Devi President Jimpal Jiribam, Sagapam Sushila Devi President AJMP, Naorem Nivarani Devi, President WASED Jiribam, Thangjam Jini Devi President JIMWAK Jiribam, Haobam Thoibi Devi, President WWOK Jiribam amasung Thokchom Priyadasini Devi President AMAWOVA as presidium members.

A two minute silence was also observed to honour the brave mothers of Manipur.
