Imphal, July 12 2016:
A group of candidates who could not appear in this year's BEd entrance examination for admission to first semester of the course at DM College of Teachers' Education have been staging demonstration since the past three days demanding conduct of a separate examination for them.
They have formed a pressure group christened BEd Entrance Deprived Candidates' Union to press their demand to the Government.
Union president K Vivekananda said that the entrance test was scheduled earlier for July 10 .
However, when they came to their examination centre on the day, they came to know that the examination had already been preponed to July 9 .
Shocked with the missing of the examination, a large number of candidates went to DM College of Teachers' Education.
However, they were denied to meet the authority concerned, he lamented.
Vivekananda said that they later came to know that the examination was preponed as UGC-NET was scheduled for the same day.
And a notification in this regard had already been issued on three newspapers on July 3, he added.
In this regard, Vivekananda questioned how could an important examination be preponed by simply announcing it in just three newspapers.
He further said that many candidates missed the examination due to authority's failure of making wide publicity.
He said that although the deprived candidates have been staging demonstration since the past three days, the authority concerned of DM College of Teachers' Education is not ready to meet the agitating candidates.
Vivekananda demanded the Government and authority concerned to conduct a separate examination for these candidates so that their academic year is not lost.
