AMSU launches market survey

In the wake of the soaring prices of essential commodities in the State, AMSU has launched a market survey at Thangal Keithel today.
Volunteers of AMSU who went for the survey asked shopkeepers not to hike prices of goods and also to display price list of all the goods sold at each shop.
AMSU general secretary Manjit S decried the Government's failure to check inflation in time.
The volunteers scattered goods sold at some shops as they did not display any price lists.
Those shops were also asked to shut down.
Even though some shops displayed price lists, prices of the same commodities varied from one shop to another.
Manjit said that the State Government ought to take up legal action against those shopkeepers who have been selling things at inflated prices.
On the other hand, a team of BJYM conducted a similar inspection drive at Khwairamband markets yesterday.
The team found the prices of almost all essential commodities have increased manifold.
Moreover prices of the same commodities varied from one shop to another.
BJYM Manipur president O Malesh said that they would send a report on the issue to the BJP Manipur Pradesh leaders who are presently at Delhi so that they can take up the matter with the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
One woman customer decried that shopkeepers have been hiking prices of all essential commodities at their own whims and fancies.
Later, a team of police went on a publicity round asking all shopkeepers to hike prices of goods and also to display price lists of all the commodities sold at each shop.
