Apart from student toppers, woman pugilist MC Mary Kom and traffic policeman Laishram Gulapi Singh among others would be sharing the limelight at the annual Governor's Award and RK Sanatombi Devi Award, 2004 presentation function to be held at the occasion of Teachers' Day celebration on September 5.The names of the selected awardees have been announced today after a grueling meeting of the Selection Committee at Asha-Jina complex, Imphal yesterday.
Former Vice Chancellor of Manipur University Dr IS Khaidem, Secretary to the Governor of Manipur RK Angousana, retired IAS officer A Halim Chowdhury and former secretary of Manipur State Kala Academy Prof L Damodar Singh, chairman of the Managing Committee Th Haridas and principal of RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya T Asha Devi were among those who were present at the meeting of the selection committee.
The Governor's Award for the best student of RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, Haotal for this year would be given to Pukhrambam Rebecca Devi for her excellence performance in the class XI board examination conducted by CBSE.
Md Mujibur Rahaman of Sainik School, who not only broke all previous records of the school but also emerge topper of AISSE Examination, 2004 from the North Eastern Region and Miss Debina Longjam of Little Flower School, Imphal who topped HSLC examination, 2004 conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur would be felicitated with RK Sanatombi Devi Award, 2004 during a glittering function to be held at Asha Jina complex on September 5.Sports persons, like Chongtham Jina (Judo), Th Nongthanglembi Chanu (Arm Wrestling), Huidrom Inao Devi (Weight Lifting), Yanglem Sunita Devi (Cycling) and MC Mary Kom (Boxing) would be honoured with the prestigious RK Sanatombi Devi Award, 2004.Traffic police officer Laishram Gulapi Singh and physically challenged Ningthoujam Diana Devi have also been selected for the award.
