Myanmar army vandalises saw mill

Imphal, May 04 2018:
Myanmar army reportedly vandalised a saw mill at H Lhangcham village which is located close to Moreh in Tengnoupal district.
Following the incident, the villagers have been caught in a panicky situation.
Armed Myanmar army personnel numbering around 10 came to the village at around 9 am of April 29 and vandalised the saw mill.
Notably, H Lhangcham village is located between border pillar numbers 75 and 76, about 5 Kms south of Moreh police station.
The H Lhangcham village chief reported the incident to the ADC Moreh, the SDPO Moreh and 11 Assam Rifles yesterday, conveyed a source.
The village has around 14 households and total population of around 70 .
Majority of the villagers are engaged in felling trees and trading timber.
There are five saw mills at the village.
There was a similar incident of Myanmar army intruding into the territory of India at Haolenphai in the first week of 2017 where they vandalised another saw mill, added the source.
