KYKL cadres arrested; arms, ammos seized

Following the arrest of six cadres of KYKL from Awang Potshangbam Khullen Maning Leikai, a number of arms and ammunition have been recovered from the residence of former MLA Yumkham Erabot today.
Acting on credible information about the presence of some armed cadres of KYKL at Awang Potshangbam Khullen Maning Leikai under Sekmai police station, a combined team of Imphal West and Imphal East commandos, troops of CRPF and another paramilitary force rushed to the spot at around 3 am today and raided some houses, sources said.
During the search operation carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, six active members of the KYKL were found hiding inside a kitchen cum bedroom of one Khundongbam Raghu-chandra (52) of Awang Potshangbam Khullen Maning Leikai and they were detained immediately.
On spot verification, the detained active members of KYKL were identified as Waribam Ibomcha alias Sudhir Meitei (36) s/o W Menjor Singh of Tumukhong Awang Leikai, Moirangthem Boy Singh (41) s/o (L) M Nimai Singh of Mayang Imphal Thana Leikai, Yumnam Amitkumar alias Tomthin Singh (38) s/o Y Ibohanbi Singh of Seijang Awang Leikai, Oinam Naocha Meitei (26) s/o O Biren Singh of Tumukhong Mayai Leikai, Sandam Roshan Meitei (24) s/o S Ratan Singh of Sairem Khul and Tharoijam Nanao Meitei (24) s/o (L) Th.Ibomcha Singh of Tharoijam Mayai Leikai.
On preliminary interrogation, they admitted that they are KYKL cadres working under the command of one Luckyson alias Birjit alias Ibomcha.
Some items were also recovered from their room and the house.
The recovered items included three gun topping lenses (scope), one live ammunition each of AK, SLR and .303 rifle, one tube launching empty case, three military type caps, two pairs of hand gloves, two camouflage mufflers, four camouflage pants, three camouflage shirts, two round neck mufflers, two numbers of booths, four smart phone handsets, two keypad mobile phones, two wrist watches and one Maruti 800 car.
The recovered items and the arrested KYKL members were handed over to Sekmai police station for investigation and necessary legal procedure.
Further, acting on specific information that one KYKL leader was hiding at the residence of former MLA (Wangkhei AC) Yumkham Erabot at Khurai Ahongei Leirak, the combined team raided the former MLA's residence at around 5 am.
It was said that the combined team recovered a number of ammunition and other items from the former MLA's residence but the KYKL leader was not found, said the sources.
The items recovered from Erabot's residence included three loaded magazines of AK-47, five empty magazines of INSAS rifle, 130 rounds of INSAS and AK ammunition, seven wireless walkie talkies, two bullet proof jackets, one camouflage helmet, one single barrel gun, one double barrel gun, one ID card, one laptop, one blue press jacket of Frontier Manipur, one pouch containing two rounds of barrel gun and one hard disk.
In a separate incident yesterday, police arrested three cadres of proscribed outfit KYKL from Changangei Uchekon, Imphal West district.
The arrested cadres have been identified Oinam Milan Singh (52), Yumnam Ranbir Singh (51) and Khaidem Dhanabir Meitei (24).They were allegedly involved in extortion activities in and around Imphal area.
From their possession, police recovered four mobile handsets, two Aadhaar cards, two driving licenses, two PAN cards, one voter card, three wallets, a total of Rs 9,125 and one) four-wheeler vehicle.
