IPPI campaign target 3,52,658 children in state

Imphal, January 23, 2011:
The first round of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) campaign kicked off today in Manipur like in other parts of the country.
The target is 3,52,658 children below five years of age.
The programme started with a function held at the head office of the state family welfare department and it will be conducted in 3527 booths across the state by 14108 vaccinators to be looked after by 705 supervisors.
The vaccinators are divided into 7058 teams and each team will conduct a house to house IPPI campaign for the next two days so ensure 100% coverage.
For Imphal West district, the target is 63,597.To achieve this, 509 booths were opened today.
A total of 1014 teams comprising of 2036 vaccinators and 100 supervisors will continue the campaign the next today.
In Imphal East, a total of 1962 teams comprising 93 supervisors and 1869 vaccinators will conduct a house to house campaign to give pulse polio drops to 53,108 children.
In Thoubal district in the first phase of the IPPI campaign the target is 60,348 children, 1736 vaccinators supervised by 86 supervisors will work divided into 868 teams.
For Bishnupur, the target is 30,362; 556 teams comprising of 55 supervisors and 1112 vaccinators will be utilised.
They will start house to house IPPI campaign the next today.
The total number of children targeted in Churachandpur is 34,911, 886 teams comprising of 1772 vaccinators and 88 supervisors will conduct the campaign.
In Tamenglong district, 486 teams made up of 972 vaccinators and 49 supervisors are targeting to cover a total of 16,047 children.
Today, a total of 243 booths were opened to administer pulse polio drop to children across the district.
For achieving the target of covering 21,318 children in Ukhrul district, the authority is utilising 1255 vaccinators including 60 supervisors by dividing them into 598 teams while 1068 vaccinators including 52 supervisors are being utilised in Chandel district for 100 percent coverage of the targeted 21,779 children.
To achieve the target of 59,188 children in Senapati district, the authority of the family welfare department is sending out 1202 teams made up by 2404 vaccinators led by 121 supervisors.
