Churachandpur, July 22 2016 :
Hmar Students' Association (HSA) under the aegis of the State Co-ordinating Committee, Manipur, on Friday, took out an inspection drive at Government institutions and facilities located in Churachandpur district under their jurisdiction.
The association visited Saikot ITI, Saikot PHC and Saikot SDO/BDO during the drive, a statement informed.
According to the association, the present condition of the ITI campus at Saikot is far from impressive with run-down buildings, outdated equipment, broken wall fencing and a campus overgrown with grass.
No staff were seen at the institution at the time of the inspection, the association alleged.
HSA will henceforth keep a constant tab on the day-to-day functioning of the ITI, it said.
While expressing satisfaction with the functioning of Saikot PHC, the HSA urged the authorities concerned to upgrade the PHC to a Community Health Centre for the benefit of the people.
At the SDO/BDO office the team found that with the exception of the Chowkidar, not a single staff was present not even the BDO.
In the meantime, HSA has lauded the efforts of Muolvaiphei Village Authority and other CSOs for repairing the Churachandpur to Sugnu road.
