KVK Hengbung awes Dr Harsh Vardhan

Visibly impressed by KVK Hengbung and associated projects during his maiden visit to Manipur, Union Minister of Science & Technology Dr Harsh Vardhan remarked that the FEEDS campus at KVK Hengbung is as good as a world class research centre though located at the remotest part of the country.
After inaugurating the "Vigyan Sadan" the former Medical professional and CM candidate in Delhi election 2014 was in full praise of the research centre which also holds one of the biggest and best orchid gene banks in the NE region.
Ragumani Singh, Addl Secretary Department of Science and Technology, Govt of Manipur, Former Minister Haokholet Kipgen who is also the Chairman of FEEDS, ADM Laxmi Kanta Sharma, Addl DC Kangpokpi, ADC members, local and village leaders, BJP workers, officials of Horticulture and Agriculture Department, Senapati, scientists and other dignitaries were also present at the inaugural function.

In honour of the visiting Union Minister, cultural dances were also presented by Kuki-Thadou dance troupe, Maram and Poumai troupes.
Speaking on behalf of the district administration, ADM Laxmikanta welcomed the Union Minister to Senapati district.
Addl Secy Ragumani Singh, stressed on the need for popularizing science and technology in Manipur through proper facilities and upgradation of the Science City at Takyelpat and establishment of Bio-Tech park in Manipur.
While seeking more assistance for developing the newly inaugurated Vigyan Sadan, he also acknowledged the presence of the Union Minister as a big morale booster to institutions like FEEDS/KVK Hengbung.
Dr Harsh Vardhan in his speech stated that despite hearing about the State of Manipur since a long time back, he was able to visit the State only today after six decades in public life.
Assuring Manipur and North East India of special treatment by the Modi-led BJP Government, the Minister called upon the youth to contribute more to the welfare of the State and the Nation.
Dr Vardhan also to set up a Bio-Tech park in Manipur.
He said that the matter would be discussed with Chief Minister O Ibobi later in the evening.
He underscored the crucial importance of protecting environment and bio-diversity which has become the most challenging task across different countries.
The five time elected member from Delhi also visited the Gene Bank at KVK Hengbung.
Dr Harsh Vardhan also spoke about the Make in India policy of the Central Government and the importance of skill development of the locals in order to make the policy a success.
