Imphal, May 13 2015 :
MPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has stated that attacks against non-Hindus and minority communities have been multiplying across the country since the BJP-led NDA Government came to power at the Centre.
Speaking at a flag hoisting ceremony of INC candidate in Tintong Laijang DCC L Johny Gangmei at Khonglong Kabui village today, Gaikhangam asserted that the Central Government has no authority to intervene in the daily affairs of the State Government just because it is a BJP Government while it is Congress which is ruling in Manipur.
Canvassing by citing the BJP-led Central Government is nothing but tomfoolery.
There have been many cases of attacks on Churches and Mosques apart from trying to ban consumption of beef.
By acting against the principle of secularism, BJP has been violating many rights enshrined in the Constitution.
Notwithstanding all their tall claims, BJP suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of AAP at Delhi.
BJP would not be able to win majority in Bihar which is going to polls shortly, Gaikhangam predicted.
All their promises of controlling inflation and bringing back black money stashed in foreign banks have not been translated into action till date.
BJP's announcement to observe December 25 (Christmas) as Good Governance Day has exposed that the party has been following a policy of segregation towards Christians.
It would be too much to expect secularism and impartiality from BJP.
The pace of development would gain greater momentum if Congress is re-elected to power in all the ADCs and it would be a big impetus to the State Government's efforts to bring equitable development between the hills and valley, Gaikhangam asserted.
He called upon the gathering to elect candidates who would sincerely serve the public.
He exuded confidence that Congress will win the ADC election by a comfortable margin.
IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip who too spoke at the flag hoisting ceremony appealed to the Deputy Chief Minister to commission Keithelmanbi police station as soon as possible.
