UCM donates solar lamps

The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has donated solar lamps to three villages of Jiribam sub-division namely Babukhal, Sabughat and Boroikhal, located on the adjacent boundary of Tousem sub-division, Tamenglong district, reports Jiri News Network.
The UCM team was led by its president Yumnam Nabachandra Singh along with secretary general Joychandra Konthoujam, vice-president Chandramani Khumanthem, account secretary RK Mangisana and secretary of resource mobilization Iqbal Shah Khulakpam.
Apart from the solar lamps, they took stock of the surrounding villages.
During their visit to Sabughat, the villagers informed about the pitiable condition of the only Government primary school where students have been deprived of proper education due to lack of teachers.
Speaking to mediapersons, Yumnam Nabachandra Singh said that the villagers of Babukhal, Sabughat and Boroikhal have been deprived of all developmental facilities for decades.
Yumnam Nabachandra added, "There have been some boundary disputes between Jiribam sub-division and Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district.
However, the State Government has not initiated any appropriate measures to resolve the issue" .
M Tarakanta Singh, chairman, Sabughat Development Committee lauded the UCM team for donating solar lamps to the villagers and also appealed to the Government to bring an amicable solution regarding the boundary dispute.
